Here was the Clinton River in downtown Mount Clemens. Here were 3 huge govt bldgs of the Macomb County govt, from (L-R) 1998, 1944, and 1972.

When you saw "Clinton River" and "Mount Clemens" and "Macomb County," you knew immediately that this is in Michigan.

On July 17, 1824, the Michigan Territorial Council decided to name the river "Clinton River," intending that New York Governor DeWitt Clinton should be worshipped in perpetuity. But they dropped his first name "DeWitt," apparently assuming that there would never be any other people named Clinton!

These buildings are huge! Macomb County people can't get enough government I guess:

• left, the Macomb County Administration Building, built 1998

• center, the Macomb County Building, built 1931-1944

• right, the Macomb County Courthouse, built 1972

The Clinton River flows to Lake St Clair, which flows to the Detroit River, which flows to Lake Erie &c. &c. &c.
