I hope nobody gets the idea to paint the fire escape to match the color of the limestone. I like the fire escape dark-colored, the way it is.
WE GET a 1930 bank building (the "Union and Peoples National Bank" building) designed by famous Albert Kahn, which got converted into county government offices (the "Jackson County Tower Building") in 1975.
UNSUPPORTED ASSERTIONS ABOUND ONLINE that the tower is from 1929, but according to page 54 of chapter 4 of this 2004 survey by Commonwealth Cultural Resources Group, Inc., the building didn't open until March 29th, 1930. Maybe everybody needs to stop saying 1929.
