Frozen VIA 15 at Ste-Foy
On January 5, 2018, VIA 15 had just made its way through a massive "bomb cyclone" Nor'easter, and had arrived at Ste-Foy running over 3.5h late. The only form of transportation that actually made its way through that storm, as flights were grounded, ferries and buses cancelled, and roads all but impassable. The delays happened due to hitting huge snow drifts through the night, and having to stop frequently to clear built-up snow and ice off the loco. Note that these photos are all of the *less* iced-up side of the train.
This was the last of the holiday extra trains, running with the stainless steel equipment (which would end up staying on through the rest of the winter).
