Observing a Brush Type 2
Water Orton, early 1985 and my old colleague Roger Williamson watches class 31 No. 31418 as it passes with the 0928 Norwich - Birmingham train. It was only when spotting and cleaning up this scan that I noticed the number painted on the buffer beam. I'm not all that observant but I can't recall seeing that before....
I was originally unsure of the date of this shot, but am happy that my records tell me that I photographed this loco on 18/4/85.
After so many years I'm not entirely sure why I was playing around with monochrome film but this was taken on Ilford FP4, possibly slightly uprated, and presumably using my old Cosina CT1A. I don't suppose that it really matters all that much.
