Peyto Lake (Explored Mar. 25, 2021)
Peyto Lake is a glacially-fed lake, complete with characteristic turquoise coloration, which is located along the Icefields Parkway in Banff National Park. The prominent mountain in the background is Caldron Peak (el. 9,551 ft; 2,911 m), and just beyond Caldron lies the Columbia Icefield, a 125 sq. mile patch of rock covered in ice and snow about 2,000 feet deep. The ice field gets an average 280 in. of fresh snowfall each year and feeds six major glaciers of the Canadian Rockies.
