PG Tips Chimps

Back in the 1960's, the Twycross Zoo Chimpanzees were famous TV stars, appearing in a number of adverts for Brooke Bond PG Tips Tea ( The tea you can really taste!) Including characters like Mr Shifter

(" Dad, do you know the Piano's on my foot?"

"You hum it son, and I'll Play it!")

and Cyril the Cyclist ("Avez vous un cuppa?)

Some memorabillia from this period was on display as part of the Memorial exhibition for Zoo co-founder Molly Badham, MBE who died last year.
