Coastal view – Genovesa | Galapagos

View across the bay – a barren landscape with little in the way of vegetation. This was a viewpoint accessed by a pretty awkward walk across lava rocks, typical of many of the coastal sites we visited. We started our walk on this island following a wet landing on a white sand and coral beach and then followed a trail through mixed vegetation of Palo Santo, Saltbush and Prickly Pear Cactus before coming to the lava rock. Despite this rather bleak description we had close encounters with Sea Lions, plus numerous birds including both Nazca and Red-Footed Boobies, Frigatebirds, Swallowtail Gulls and Red-billed Tropicbirds.
