Where Heaven Greets Earth

This photo is dedicated to my sister. She's a junior at New York University, majoring in international business and finance. She is currently studying abroad at the University of Hong Kong, and the entire reason why I had the opportunity to visit. This photo was taken on the morning of her 20th birthday. (ILY, T2)!

I could not have captured this magnificent view without the help of a fellow flickr contact, who I am happy to also call my friend, Xavibarca. If you have not seen his photostream, please take a visit. He is a very talented photographer and has the most incredible cityscapes of Hong Kong and Sydney, among others. After debating and discussing the locations to meet for our photoshoot of the city (he had many great recommendations), we decided on the Peak at 4:45am in the morning in order to prepare for the sunrise 75 minutes later.

Somehow, good fortune and good weather were on our side that morning. The sky was so clear, one could see the stars and constellations above the city and mountains prior to the sun's entrance. My understanding is that we had winds coming north over Hong Kong Island from the South China Sea instead of the typical haze that drifts south from mainland China.

This photo was one of my most memorable events during my stay in Hong Kong.

Thanks again, Xavi! ;o)
