siri.thompson says: I really enjoy the framing in this photo which shows 2 "regular" women, almost surly looking with the added carnival feature behind. This photo gave me a very uneasy feeling as if the women were in danger. A wonderful take on a Gilden moment.

siri.thompson says: A wonderful frame, shot in colour but it could have easily been a black and white photo. I really enjoy Hearhun's use of space and the lines all leading to the conductor. It has a very nice and serene feeling, almost as if we are listening to the music. A simple but beautiful photo.

siri.thompson says: Again I really like the use of the space around the "surprise" element. Here the balloon is perfectly placed in the light. Another simple, but beautiful and effective photo. The lonely balloon has me feeling uneasy as if discarded by a child, or maybe happy as if the child has just walked in with the balloon. I am tending towards the feeling of happiness as the balloon manages to stay in the light.

siri.thompson says: Having the dog (seemingly playing) placed with the child's face reflected, brings emotion to this photo. Almost as if the child is longing for his or her own dog or it could be the adult with the dog remembering past times. The ghostly appearance of the child and the ghostly reflections in the top right hand side adds to this feeling.

siri.thompson says: An unlikely combination of cat, pigeons and a yogi. A nicely composed photo which has a fun, whimsical feeling. I find humour in the cat doing an "upward dog" pose.

siri.thompson says: I just really like this shot of village life. It almost seems like a photo from another era which brings the feeling of nostalgia. The framing with the bags leading to the boy with the bags is nice and the man behind with his stick in the air is a bit of a surprise. (I don't think he's threatening the photographer though).

siri.thompson says: This was a surprise with the liberal amounts of fairy dust being sprinkled on the girl in the front. The little girl coming up behind and the man with his head to the side are nice added details. I got the feeling being a child can still be magical.

siri.thompson says: This one just has me puzzled. There is so much to like and admire as I'm trying to unravel the puzzle. I really enjoy the framing and the moment.
