4TH ELEMENT-BY MIKI KARSON
Handstitched embroidery floss on muslin 10" hoop. 4 elements solid-liquid-gas-plasma(what stars are made of!)
Inspired by the poem To the Chief Musician upon Nabla: A Tyndallic Ode
I come from fields of fractured ice,
Whose wounds are cured by squeezing,
Melting they cool, but in a trice,
Get warm again by freezing.
Here, in the frosty air, the sprays
With fernlike hoar-frost bristle,
There, liquid stars their watery rays
Shoot through the solid crystal....

James Clerk Maxwell (13 June 1831 – 5 November 1879) was a Scottish theoretical physicist and mathematician.
For the sake of persons of…different types, scientific truth should be presented in different forms, and should be regarded as equally scientific, whether it appears in the robust form and the vivid coloring of a physical illustration or in the tenuity and paleness of a symbolic expression.
