Day 263: Have you ever wondered what a Threadless T-Shirt looks like under a Scanning Electron Microscope?
Tech master and science enthusiast, Scott VanDenPlas thought it would be really cool to see how a Threadless shirt is actually put together, so he made a series of images to show off exactly what can be done. All of these images were taken on an FEI Magellan Scanning Electron Microscope.
The larger image on the left shows how the ink from the silk screening process actually bleeds into the individual threads. When the ink is set, this creates an incredibly strong bond weaved into the actual cotton fibers of the shirt themselves.
