Common Lizard - Lacerta Zootoca vivipara

Another relatively nice day and I thought I'd risk a walk having been pretty much confined to home due to this wretched sciatica for two or three weeks.

I was pleased to find a couple of these common lizards in the same place I usually find them ....... if you manage to spot them that is ! They take some spotting too I can tell you as they are well camouflaged amongst the dead leaves.

Although this one is looking at me it decided to stay put and not disappear like they normally do when they sense or see they've been spotted.

These lizards grow to an average of about 10 - 15cm and can live for up to 12 years.

As the latin name suggests they do not lay eggs but give birth to live young.

The image will enlarge a little.
