Kallakurichi - Tamarind trees

The tamarind trees that stand on either side of the road belong to the Municipality (Government). They are painted in checkered black and white and numbered sequentially. The permit to harvest tamarind fruits (used to produce juice that tastes sour & sweet) issued annually and the fruits harvested during summer months of April-June.
