Jenny Lowrey - From the Ground Up

This unique program will involve the entire community and ultimately produce a series of community gardens growing organic food at no cost starting in our poorest neighborhoods. The mission of the project is to reduce illness and improve the lives of Chico residents by educating them in nutrition, gardening, harvesting, cooking, preserving, and even marketing their own healthy organic food. I realized that my community has a serious food security issue. I don’t believe healthy organic food should be a luxury only the wealthy can afford. Really no losers here. Any food left over will go to local food pantries.
