Patricio Chavez - Monitoring trip to save indigenous people in the Yasuní-ITT National Park of Ecuador
We are a group of young environmental activists in Ecuador and part of the Yasunidos movement that seeks to convoke a national referendum in order to avoid the oil drilling in the Yasuní National Park - the most biodiverse place on planet and home of indigenous peoples in voluntary isolation. To save the Yasuní and its inhabitants via a referendum, the public must be well informed about the already started, illegitimate advances of the oil drilling plans in the Yasuní-ITT as well as the related violation of constitutional human and nature's rights. The project idea is therefore to monitor and document this processes directly on-site, with focus on the indigenous community Llanchama, the only community officially resisting the oil activities.
