The movement Mi Cometa has done previous work with children and youth and now wishes to actively take part in the national YASunidos campaign with the project "Jóvenes por Yasuní". The goal of the overall campaign is to convoke a national referendum in order to save the last untouched part of the Yasuní National Park from oil exploitation.
The project consists of conducting an educational campaign in 10 secondary schools in Guayaquil, Ecuador to inform around 1000 youths about the dangers and impacts on the biodiversity in the Yasuní of the oil extraction, as well as about the existence of some of the world's last indigenous people living in voluntary isolation. The purpose is to involve the youth in national signature collection to defend the Yasuní.
