Economy 7

Leyland Olympian 3212 was delivered in allover advertising livery for Norweb's Economy 7 electricity plan.

New in April 1986 it is seen here at Piccadilly outside Woolworths when just two months old in June of the same year.

As was the case with allover advertising vehicles they weren't allocated to a particular depot, being 'pool' vehicles that moved around the network. Here it is working off the former Manchester City Transport garage at Birchfields Road, which would close at the end of October 1986 at deregulation. The bus would later work from Bolton and Wigan depots, as well as others and still survives in France!
