When no one cares
Abandoned and forgotten home. Back in 1995 many homes like this were demolished in Wakita for the making of the first “Twister” movie. I lived in this town for three years back in early 1960’s. This was my first time back in about 60 years. I once watched four tornados from my back porch plowing through the nearby wheat fields. The school system here shut down in 1990. The building still stands rusting away. There is a “Twister Cafe” but not much else on Main Street. A lot of houses like this one are abandoned and deteriorating with time. My memories of my time in this town are more solid than what stands here today.
