nevus — june 4 (day 35)
Went to the eye doctor today for my regular checkup. All is well; she says I've stabilized (my vision generally gets worse each year) and that I'd be a good candidate for Lasik if I want to take that route. I'm not sure; I have a general aversion to anything slicing my eye open. But it sure would be sweet to see without any help.
She also told me that the medical term for what's in my eye is "nevus" — which just means birthmark, really. (She even took the time to have her receptionist print out the Wikipedia page for me. Now that's service!) But I'd been told by previous doctors that it was a busted blood vessel that just sort of left a stain in my eye. Or something like that. Hell, I was a kid. They were probably making stuff up. Turns out it's just a mole. And they're common, she says. So take a good look at your eyes some time. You probably have a small one in there somewhere.
Also, check out the extreme dilation in my eyes. Yeah, I can't focus on anything and I'm supposed to avoid light. Which means the only thing I can do is go back to bed. Which suits me just fine, since I got a whopping four hours of sleep last night.
