POWA at Belgrade
Out of Pan Am's twenty SD40-2s of various heritages, my favorites of them are the three former Santa Fe / Trona SD45-2s. When they arrived on the property they were wearing Trona's bright red and silver scheme, although they quickly got repainted into Pan Am's blue dip, but nonetheless, the massive SD45-2 carbodies are still visually appealing. Currently the 616 is the only one of the three in service, and it's seen here, leading POWA as they hustle east under the cover of darkness. Unfortunately, the demise of Pan Am's fleet of old EMDs seems to be drawing ever closer, and given the rough shape of most of them, there probably isn't much of a future for them.
