“After a sharp frost over-night the wind changed, and although it blew bitterly cold all day from a coursing point of view there was no fault to find with the weather. The ten o'clock special from Liverpool took down a fairly good company to Newton Bridge, and the general attendance on the ground was quite up to the average. It was arranged to course in the Station Field, and the sport from start to finish turned out to be the best yet seen over this famous trial ground. Hares ran wonderfully well, and the card of 57 courses was finished a few minutes after three o'clock...”.
