Festive Coquette

Festive Coquette males boast elegant, green cheek tufts which are tipped with white. During courtship these tufts are flared outward and the male bows his head before the female, exposing a patch of pale blue bare skin on his crown. Feeds on a wide variety of flowers at almost any level, and regularly visits feeders in some areas. The nest and eggs of this species have been described, but overall its reproduction has been poorly studied. doi.org/10.2173/bow.fescoq3.01

At Macuquinho Lodge, the bokeh are the flowers of Manacá-da-Serra (Tibouchina mutabilis) a pioneer tree of the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. Wishing everyone a Peaceful Bokeh Wednesday!
