Join me for a landscape and post-processing workshop in Iceland, Sept 2014.
We'd been told that seeing the aurora was hit and miss. We'd planned our trip for one of the (predicted) best months and best years for the northern lights. The people we stayed with on the first night said that the previous group had visited Iceland seven time and still not seen them. With all this in mind, we started our road trip with the Snaefellsnes Peninsula and stopped for some astrophotography next to Kirkjufell. As we were shooting the Milky Way, the aurora borealis started to become apparent.
It grew more intense as the night went on and was almost like a mist surrounding us. As we explored the local area, we found this field of horses. The northern lights seem liked they were erupting out of this hill/mountain, so I figured it might make a nice shot.
