A Japanese macaque sits in the steam of an onsen in the mountains of Nagano.
After a client shoot in Tokyo, I spend around 3 weeks of my own time exploring some of the more rural parts of Japan. This particular section took me into the mountainous area of Nagano in central Honshu. This was at the end of November, so there was a lot of snow around. The monkeys come down from the surrounding mountains and warm up in the natural hot springs there.
