bloomin' sundew

Drosera capernis sending up two flowering stems. :-D

Unlike the Venus flytrap, which flowering is said to weaken the plant so the stem should be cut off before flowers can be produced plus the seeds are very difficult to germinate, most sundews remain healthy while producing flowers and some varieties produce so many that they are considered a weed. Since the seeds need a stratification period (winter) and this plant is getting the brunt of Washington autumn temperatures in this window, it's no surprise the plant is entering its reproductive cycle.

(Its neighbor in the foreground, Drosera binata which looks a little droopy due to being transplanted then having its stickiness rinsed off because I got it very dirty in the process, has not yet tried this trick... it's busy re-dewing its leaves.)

Soon as I have open flowers, you'll see in macrovision.
