Contest! - 1K Instagram followers

Launched a contest yesterday over on instagram, but wanted to post here too to give flickr members the chance to participate. *Cue copy n paste:

CONTEST - ~Please read all if entering~ To celebrate reaching 1k followers on Instagram, I thought I should do something good.

CONTEST THEME: 'Artwork Inspired'

*Source media includes unique sculptures, artist impressions and generally unique art of any character you want.

The Idea here is to create something new and Unique based off sources people currently haven't used.

COMIC BOOK ART DOES NOT COUNT.

CONTEST RULES:

Painted Customs, decals and purists can enter

Figures can be based on whatever characters you want, HOWEVER more adventurous designs will get you significantly higher points. Perhaps mix two themes, (i.e Star Wars and Romans or batman and Cowboys) I do Not want to see generic marvel/DC figures based off of any onscreen or comic book portrayals.

TO ENTER:

1. You can submit a maximum of 3 figures. Quality over quantity.

2. All figures created since the 1st September can be entered, but New customs will get More points.

3. You must repost this photo with the tag me in it. AS WELL AS you entries.

4. Additionally All entries must have myself tagged:

Contest Ends 8th October. Results released the following day.

CONTEST PRIZE:

True to the theme, my first 'artwork inspired' custom... Obi-Wan Kenobi: Desert Nomad.

1st Place will receive Obi, as well as an invitation to join the group account @lego_scum (Instagram only).

There will be 2-3 Runners up (depending on number of entries), who will each receive a shoutout/be featured on my page.

As always, there will be honourable mentions.

BONUS HINTS:

Congrats you read on, so here's you reward:

1. One thing I particularly favour in figs is attention to detail. This may not be simply lots and lots of detail, perhaps a particular 'jaw line' on a helmet or visor which is clean cut and sharply angled. Getting specific details right will earn additional points.

2. Secondly the images above are all 'expressive'. Whether it's a stylised robe, elaborately shaped accessories or an entire surrounding environment connected to the figure (see the venom above), these additional details will significantly increase points.

3. I'm looking to be impressed, but that does not mean you have to produce the cleanest and most intricate figure. Sometimes simplicity and uniqueness works best. Take my previous winner Mark Brockway on Instagram as an example. He created the only figure based off TFA pirate smuggler (with peg leg). It wasn't the most detailed of all, but it 'struck a chord' and instantly became one of my favourites.

I'll post updates and more details later on. For now... Happy Painting!
