Basalt Borer
Rock Raiders!
The Basalt Borer is a remote control drone that simply drives forwards carving tunnels. It's great for inexperienced Rock Raiders to play with, however, it's not so great when they run off and start digging without any sense of direction or a way to carry the crystals back besides by hand...
I built this drone about a year and a half ago based on this concept art, and it was going to be part of a collab that Markus and I had started but never finished. Maybe some day! Seeing as how the Mech Monday theme for this week was "Drills" and Markus agreed that a drone is close enough to a mech, I decided to build an environment to set the scene of how I imagine this machine working.
Thanks to Laura, Wes, Austin and Markus for feedback while building. :)
And, if you're going to post a mech, it should be on Mech Monday! :) A project started by Markus and Marin.
