0824 Tesla factory and Superchargers in Fremont

August 24

While Emily went into work at Octopus Creative today, I snug a rental car and drove to Fremont! All by myself! In a gas car! Yep, and I didn’t even wreck it.

The guy who led the tour was the same dude who did it on our honeymoon, and he was right! The factory is totally different now than it was then. Things have been moved around all over the place, and you can tell they’re transitioning to the X because there were a lot more forklifts running around, where I assume SmartCarts will run once everything is laid down. The tour itself was fantastic. The guy who leads them has an immense amount of knowledge about all parts of the process, and he’s able to spout it out in an interesting way.

We even saw a couple of unfinished Models X on the line, but they were pretty hardcore about photo leaks (I think leaks have been a problem lately), so I didn’t get to capture the hotness. Seeing it in person, even in passing, did reinforce my decision to eventually upgrade to the X, probably not for a couple years. On the way home I had lunch at a fabulous place called “burger.” They have an excellent beer selection, great shakes, and an enormous selection of burgers on the menu. It kind of reminded me of Twisted Root, but it was way harder to make a decision.

When Emily got off work we drove up to the woods so we could see a little nature. One of the Octopus people had recommended a less touristy part of the woods and gave us an address to navigate to. When we finished the 30 minute drive, there was nowhere to park the car. We’d been told to look for a parking lot, but no luck! Driving through the woods was pretty enough. We decided to head straight from there to a Thai place they’d recommended that turned out to be VERY similar to Thai Ocha in Denton. It was great food, but we got full fast. :(
