GREECE, SUMMER 2013 #4093A
Heraion of Perachora, Loutraki - Corinth.
The Heraion of Perachora was a sanctuary of the goddess Hera situated in a small cove of the Corinthian gulf at the end of the Perachora peninsula. It is located 14.2 km NNW of Corinth, and 75.9 km W of Athens.
In the area, some of the most important archaeological evidence has been found linking the site with early Corinthian civilization. The archaeological excavations that were carried out during the years 1930 – 1933 brought to light evidence of two sanctuaries Hera Limanaia and Hera Akraia. Today archeologists believe that there was only one sanctuary the Hera Limanaia - Akraia. The archaeological survey expanded its excavations to the near-by Vouliagmeni Lake where residues from early Neolithic, Helladic and Mycenaic era were found.
Taken during a 6 day photographic vacation with my beloved English wife Theresa Jane Brown, whilst staying with friends in their summer home in Loutraki.
