Mount Taranaki goblin forest (kāmahi tree)

==>> The Goblin Forest in Taranaki, New Zealand, is a nickname for the unique, twisted forests on the slopes of Mount Taranaki, specifically within Egmont National Park.

By the time we reached the observation point at the North Taranaki visitor centre, we found ourself in the cloud - low visibility and drizzle rain. Well, only I could do - a short walk through the amazing moss-covered goblin forest.

The "goblin" trees, covered in moss, are kāmahi ( Pterophylla racemosa, syn. Weinmannia racemosa) - an evergreen tree endemic to New Zealand.
