Hooker Valley Track and Mueller lake/glacier pano
The Hooker Valley Track is one of the most popular day hikes in New Zealand. It is located within the Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park, South island.
It crosses 3 suspension (swing) bridges over the Hooker River before reaching a lookout above Hooker Lake for a close view of Mount Cook (the highest peak).
This is the first bridge and Mueller lake. A hundred years ago, the Mueller glacier filled the valley floor, and the lake is the result of the Mueller glacier retreating creating the classical moraine.
Crossing the bridges was a fun on that easy 5km return hike, but entire walk is very beautiful with spectacular views around, particular at such nice weather we had. Gets too busy 'though.
Note, it is end of summer, so it is the least snow.
