The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) presented twelve grants, totaling $3,199,404.00 to seven grant recipients, including the Lamar State College Orange, Lamar State College Port Arthur, Woodville ISD (in partnership with Lamar Institute of Technology and Lee College), Deweyville ISD (in partnership with Lamar Institute of Technology), Spurger ISD (in partnership with Lamar Institute of Technology), Newton ISD (in partnership with Lamar Institute of Technology), and Jasper ISD (in partnership with Lamar Institute of Technology and Lamar State College Port Arthur) In the first year of the grants, the funding will help train 925 students in high demand occupations in Petroleum System Operators, HVAC, Healthcare, Transportation, Electricians, Plumbers/Pipefitters, and Welding.
