Easter Services, 1950, at the Circle Drive-In Theatre, Waco, TX.

Easter services were once held at the Circle Drive-In Theatre at 2112 La Salle, Waco, Texas. Fred Marlar photographed one of these events in 1950. Cars are parked where they could see the service, and speakers normally used for motion-picture sound projected the sermon.

Of the event, The "Waco News-Tribune" of April 8, 1950, states: “Gates of the Circle Drive-In will open at 5:30 a.m. and [Easter sunrise] services conducted by Rev. A.C. Lane will begin at 6:08 a.m. Special music will be given by combined choirs of the church [Faith Tabernacle Assembly of God, Thirteenth and Webster, Waco, TX].”

Today, most of the large section that held the movie screen of the former Circle Drive-In Theatre still stands, but most of the site now serves as Treasure City Flea Market.
