Old Baylor at Independence

This set features images of the June 8, 1952, rededication of the Baylor columns at the old Baylor Female College building at Independence, Texas, as well as images from trips taken in preceding and following decades.

Sixty-one years later, on October 6, 2013, Baylor University and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor once again rededicate the historic columns on Academy Hill in Independence, Texas, on the grounds of Old Baylor.

The columns from the Baylor Female College building are all that remain of Old Baylor now. While they require periodic restoration, both universities are committed to their shared past and to preserving their heritage.
