Coffee Time

Groundwork Coffee, in the refurbished former Southern Pacific / Pacific Electric depot structure in North Hollywood, California, opened for business on January 9, 2017. The two employees seen here were dispensing free coffee samples. The business is holding its Grand Opening festivities today, February 17, 2017, which is projected to be a day of heavy rains in southern California. My work commitments will keep me from checking it out, so I'm afraid I won't be able to post any photos from the event.

The place is located adjacent to the point where passengers debark from the Orange Line buses and mostly rush to board the Red Line subway trains or other buses, so I wouldn't expect many such commuters will pause to grab coffee and pastries between switching transit modes. I was here on a subsequent weekend morning and was a bit surprised by the number of folks, many of them young couples with babies in strollers, walking in presumably from some of the new apartments in the area.
