Roald Amundsen Pullman Private Railroad Car in Scottsdale, AZ (1928). The car was first used by a president in 1932, when Herbert Hoover used it during a campaign. FDR followed in 1936, and he held meetings with Canadian Prime Minister Mackenzie King here in 1940; these were preliminary discussions for the formation of NORAD. Roosevelt frequently toured in the car from 1940 to 1942, often visiting defensive facilities. After the US entered the war, a new, armor-plated Pullamn was built for Roosevelt. Following Roosevelt's death in 1945, Harry Truman traveled in the car on the way to the burial service. Finally, Dwight D. Eisenhower campaigned with the car in 1952.
