Quantum (Battlebots) WIP
My latest combat robot project is to build a crusher, largely based off the robots 'Quantum' and 'Spectre' built for Battlebots and King of Bots by the Cooper brothers.
The bare-bones chassis and mechanics are there, but the robot still needs armour and other aesthetics adding to it.
The robot uses pneumatics to mimic the hydraulics of the real robots, both for the crusher and self-righter. The crusher is never going to actually pierce Lego parts, but the aim is to make it reasonably forceful to grab onto opponents and dislodge pieces.
The PF large motor sticking out the side operated both the compressor, and the controlling valve (the latter via a slip clutch). The medium motor operates the self-righter valve. The small yellow piston at the back operates a pressure-relief to prevent the hoses popping off.
I've used solid plastic wheels so the bot can skid-steer around easier.
