Waited and waited at the Russia's Grizzly Coast compound at the Minnesota Zoo for this Amur Leopard [Panthera pardus orientalis] to do something more that just pose on the log.
Suddenly I had this shot and I heard the woman next to me tell her companion, "I got it with it's mouth open!" I hoped I did too and realized I had a good shot when I reviewed the photo.
This leopard's companion was named "Paulina" (aka Nina, according to a zoo docent), but I didn't get the name of this leopard . . . a rather beautiful creature much like it's kin, the snow leopard.
As you can see, I hazed out the background and foreground log a bit to keep the focus on the leopard's face.
