Parish Church School Gardens & Alma Place

Here's a rare shot: this is the Parish School garden, taken in the early to mid 1950s. Let me try to orientate you: the school itself is to our left, and to our right is Wright's Garage. We are looking over Church Street at the buildings of Alma Place, long gone. Another way through from the buildings opposite led to Roger's Yard, also long gone. Click here to see the demolition in this area circa 1973, looking "the other way".

This garden was used to teach the school kids basic gardening skills. Not one building in this photograph remains in place today.
