625. MHL 190F: West Riding on hire to South Yorkshire PTE (no. 1901)
In December 1980 SYPTE hired 6 buses from Yorkshire Traction, but of the six, five were lent to Yorkshire Traction for the purpose by West Riding. These buses gained Yorkshire Traction fleetnames for the duration of the loan, which extended for 2-3 months.
West Riding 625 is seen here at Leicester Avenue before entering service with SYPTE. It is a 1968 Daimler Fleetline with low height Roe bodywork. It was allocated SYPTE no. 1901.
The old Department of the Environment driving Test Centre appears in the background. In those days you started your driving test in the back yard of the bus depot.
