Log Eater
This machine was trying to catch logs as they were carried down the river in flood. In another shot in this set, there is a pile of logs on the road that had already been caught. At several of the bridges over this river (Truckee in Reno, Nevada) there were other piles of trees that had been scooped up either before this point or after. (The log catchers were not always successful so the next one down had a shot at it...) It was striking to see the river this high and see the River Walk inundated.
