String Theory
Warning - This may be Physics or it may just be Philosophy, sort of, and may be too intense for some viewers :-))
The photo is a spinning, swinging wind sculpture in a strong wind. It is being lit from a flash light shinning directly below it. I am thinking of the wind sculpture as a frozen string (ribbon) of copper that is now spinning and vibrating because of the wind. So in some sense the photo is showing a complex 3D structure created by a simple one dimensional vibrating string.
I am sure real physics geeks may take issue with what I just said, but the image is helping me get my head around String Theory and how to think of vibrating strings. For more information you may want to get a copy of Brian Greene's excellent book, The Elegant Universe or just watch the PBS Video of the same title.
Regardless this is a fun way of taking cool photos.
