Schloss Moyland wich has its first records in history since 1307 , at that time it was a stronghold with dirt walls and canals.
in the 17. century it was transformed to a castle in baroc style , in 1740 as this castle became part the Preusian crown , Friedrich der Große and Voltaire came her for the first time , the new owner of this castle in 1766 was family Von Steengracht they let the castle beeing changed in 1854 by Ernst Friedrich Zwirner ( Kolner dombaumeister ) Ernst riedrich Zwirner transformed the castle in New Gothic style until 1945 the caste was owned by the family von Steengracht and used as ther main residence and was a popular place for travellers in the lower rhine region after decades of decay the castle was restorated in 1987 the restauration took 10 years and in 1997 a museum was opened in Schloss Moyland , these days the garden of the castle house a great number of beautiful scuulptures , it is definitely worth a visit
