Chrysanthemum Fest Mum at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square of PA

We try to get over to the gardens whenever they have the Chrysanthemum Festival in autumn, for the is such an elaborate display of mums at their absolute finest, and they have incorporated the “Thousand Bloom Mum” in multiple areas, showing the remarkable skill and artistry of the individuals involved in theses creations that show how hundreds to well over a thousand flowers can bloom from a single stem. But, regardless of when we go, we never leave disappointed, for there is never a dull moment with the constant change and new presentations, both in the outdoor landscape and the inside exhibition of the conservatory.

This is absolutely one of our very favorite places to visit, for this world class floral and horticultural institution is often considered amongst the finest in North America. With the original ownership and meticulous planning and design executed by the famous Pierre du Pont, and subsequently carried over to the present day’s attention to detail and first rate exhibits, this over 1,000 acres of spectacular landscape is a sight—and site— to behold. The wide variety of flowers and plants at Longwood Gardens is absolutely stunning in all stages and species . . . akin to a real life Garden of Eden for anyone with a deep passion and appreciation for these gifts of nature. In addition, the superb stone work of the many architectural designs and structures, such as the grand fountains, promenades, conservatory and more throughout the grounds accentuate the experience, never ceasing to amaze. And now that the new Meadow Garden has been created, it has only enhanced the total experience for all.
