Evening encroaching on the downtown core of Calgary, Alberta. In the foreground is the Saddledome, home to the Calgary Flames hockey team.
Monday was a windy day. We tried a walk in Calgary's NE, but it wasn't enjoyable and we only managed 3 km's. But then it struck us, that with high winds coming from the west, airplanes arriving at YYC would be using the shortest of the runways which runs east/west, instead of the much longer north/south approaches. The benefit for planespotters is that one end of the east/west runway is near a road inside the airport lands and there are several spots there where people can park to watch the planes zoom in overhead.
