Oyomi marsh (親海湿原) is located near the source of the Himekawa river in Hakuba municipality. It is a small marsh surrounded by thick forests at an altitude of 700 m. It is much lower than the Tsugaike marshes; therefore the vegetation is different.
Ko'oniyuri (Lilium leichtlinii) is a species of the lily genus (Lilium), which occurs in Northeast Asia and Russian Far East. It looks similar to Oniyuri (tiger lily, Lilium lancifolium) but is a different species and grows in higher altitude areas than tiger lily, but in lower altitude areas than Kuruma-yuri (Lilium medeoloides).
Several different species in the lily genus that look like Oniyuri are also called tiger lily.

Being a Blue Russian, I decided to name him "Yuri" after the doctor in Boris Pasternak's novel, "Dr. Zhivago." He meets me each day, eats some food while I sit with him and then runs alongside for 250 meters down to the end of the park where I feed the group of 15. It's not his group, but he mixes fairly well. They pretty much ignore him.
When I go sit on the rocks, Princess did not let him get close but he stayed close by until I started my run home and he followed about 400 meters. Such a cute boy!
I will post another photo of the two of them kind of facing each other as rivals.

When I saw Yuri yesterday, I could tell that he was quite sick and suffering still from the wounds in his mouth, so my friend brought a carrying case and I was able to scoop him up while he was busy eating. I first took him home and then called the vet who took care of my three cats when I lived here. She was willing to see him right away and she is going to do surgery on his mouth, pump him full of antibiotics and keep him for 10-15 days until he is well. I'd love to bring him to the USA but my building will not allow a 4th cat and my girls would not be happy to have a male arrive.
When I saw the seriousness of his wounds during the vet's inspection of his mouth, I knew that he would have died if he did not get treatment. Good thing I flew to see him!
