So is this fish coming out or going back in?...Mom (or dad) frequently swallow the food back down after the chicks have had their fill. The nest is just big enough for the three chicks and one parent. When the second parent come home the first one leaves after the greeting and dropping a present of food or sticks to reinforce the nest. I watched this parent swallow and regurgitate the same fish plus other previous tidbits 3 time during my visit. During that time (about an hour) the other parent did not come home. The stay-at-home parent briefly flew off the nest to stretch still wings and legs. It watched the nestlings from across the canal and came back after about 5 minutes. I love watching this interesting behavior and wish I could follow the chicks to fledge time. Unfortunately I have to heal from a broken pelvis for about 6 weeks. By then the little ones will be gone. Bummer!

The Downy Woodpeckers love this little suet feeder. They eat the suet up faster than I can replenish it but now that it's dark when I get home from work the only time I get to enjoy watching them enjoy the suet is on the weekends.

I currently have no camera, which means no new photos. I won't have money for a new camera until I get a job, and I don't know when that is going to be. This is killing me, I hate not taking photos.

Wow today was a sunny and hot day here in Sweden.
There are too many patterns in this image, with the butterfly perched on the varigated dahlia, but that's the one he chose. Even though it was taken late in the morning, on a bright day, it's my first decent image of a Gulf Fritillary, this year. I'm trying to get at least one focused shot of every species of moth and butterfly I see this summer.
