A suphur crested cookatoo devouring a pine cone high up a pine tree. Taken at the Adelaide Botanical Gardens.
The sulphur-crested cockatoo is a relatively large white cockatoo found in wooded habitats in Australia, New Guinea, and some of the islands of Indonesia.
They can be locally very numerous, leading to them sometimes being considered pests.

This catfish likes milkweed seeds, methinks.
Looking Close On Friday: "Lips" theme
I did some quick research, and discovered that not all fish have lips. But fish that feed frequently off the bottom, such as catfish, not only have lips, but their lips contain tastebuds that help them identify what's good to eat when they're rummaging around down there, says a site called DeseretNews. The lips also help to channel food into the mouth.

The shorebirds were having a feast after the tropical storm in SW Florida. I saw this guy pick up something and began photographing him. He tried to crack it open and finally just swallowed it whole. It wasn’t until I looked on my computer did I see that it was a small crab.

This shot was the highlight of my recent trip to Florida. I have been to Florida dozens of times and seen hundreds of alligators but had never before seen one catching and eating prey. We were lucky enough to spot this one at Lake Apopka and managed to spend about 10 minutes watching it slowly devour a huge armoured catfish. It was a pretty big alligator - I estimated it to be between 10 and 12 feet long and the catfish must have been a good couple of feet. Alligators apparently only eat once every one or two weeks and have been known to go up to two years without eating. An experience and a shot I won't forget in a hurry!
We got some fairly scruffy looking greengages from the Farmers Market the other day, they may not look pretty but they taste delicious.
They are almost my favourite type of plum, the favourite tag goes to an old fashioned variety that my parents used to grow called by the wonderful name of Magnum Bonum.

Pipas, honey, olive oil ... Products with very little participation of men and very healthy for the mind and body !!!!
This bull moose just woke up for a leisurely brunch of yew needles (check his mouth!). Moose (Algonquin for “eater of twigs”) forage across a 5+ mile (13km) territory, & this guy has added these shrubs to his regular route. He just steps over 5 foot fences effortlessly.
Washington State's moose belong to a subspecies called "Shiras” - which are technically smaller than their more northern-dwelling relatives & predominantly live on the eastern side of the State.
But this was still a big boy! I'd guess he weighed in around 1,000 pounds (450kg) and was over 6 feet (1.8m) tall at the shoulder.
