In this scene: Itâs early morning November 04 2021 and mum and I are slowly gathering ourselves for the journey home from our time in London. As a side comment; we got upgraded to a suite with a window view spanning what seemed from within the whole width of Parliament. As I put the kettle on to make us a brew I turned the news on â BREAKING NEWS! Extinction Rebellion have blocked the road (a major route) into Westminster and The Houses of Parliament; a peaceful protest against crimes to the environment and a message to Government. I opened the curtains to find that what was being relayed on the TV news was developing in real-time (seen just right of Big Ben as you view this image) from our expansive hotel viewpoint. We sipped our tea, watched and listened. Stuck in a trance-like state of the moment I suddenly became conscious; âSh!t mum! Weâd better get ready our trainâs at..!â And so our scurrying began.
I donât actually recall capturing the scene. I certainly missed the glory of this burning sunrise. Sometimes youâre in the moment when youâre not really in the moment.

I mistakenly told someone Dennis recently that I'd been practicing photography for three years. Actually, this past February marked two years that I've been at this now. Anyway, one of the things I've wanted to do most since I've started was shoot in fog, preferably at night. Tonight was the night. I think I only got *mayyybe* 3 shots out of the deal, but still, it was nice to give it a go for an hour or so...

Roo: Pooh! You ate some?!

there are parts of a life, you might not understand - if met out of context. This rusty nail, for example, in mid summer is a brace for a grape vine that inevitably finds it and twines it self around it on its quest to higher light. all summer it is embraced by green and wrapped in growth. but now it's winter. 'i cannot stay to keep you company - will you be lonely when I leave, will you remember me when i am gone?' whispers the icicle in quiet hope. -
in a movie the other night, a character states, the purpose of a marriage is to be a witness to someones' life, in a world so busy, one could go by unnoticed, but in a marriage it is a promise, I will see you, I will notice.
i just like that thought.
Enjoy the day everyone. Just one more day!!!
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to everyone

it was one of those cool evenings in portixol when the world felt quiet but alive. friedemann and i had set out with our cameras, chasing light as the day gave way to night. the little harbor glowed faintly, its reflections dancing on the water, like echoes of stories long told.
we met matthias leaning against the railing, hands clasped, smile easy. the kind of smile that draws you in, makes you want to know more. we talked about life, the harbor, the kind of things you say when youâre strangers but feel connected. the city lights shimmered behind him, blurred but bright, casting the scene in a soft hum of energy.
matthias let us take his portrait, no hesitation. he stood there, hoodie pulled up, framed by the twilight and those glowing reflections. his smile stayed, steady and warm, a reminder of how simple moments can hold so much.

This is Tourmaline, Topaz, Albite from the Pachigram Pegmatite Field, Nuristan, Afghanistan courtesy of Fine Art Minerals at the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show.
Li-Be-Sn-Nb-rich pegmatite dykes, hosted in Late Carboniferous to Early Permian schists, gneisses, and granites. The ore field contains around 100 dykes, which are up to 1000 m long and up to 20 m thick.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tourmaline
Tourmaline (/ËtÊÉrmÉlɪn, -ËliËn/ TOOR-mÉ-lin, -â leen) is a crystalline silicate mineral group in which boron is compounded with elements such as aluminium, iron, magnesium, sodium, lithium, or potassium. This gemstone comes in a wide variety of colors.
The name is derived from the Sinhalese tÅramalli (ටà·à¶»à¶¸à¶½à·à¶½à·), which refers to the carnelian gemstones.[4]
Brightly colored Ceylonese gem tourmalines were brought to Europe in great quantities by the Dutch East India Company to satisfy a demand for curiosities and gems. Tourmaline was sometimes called the "Ceylonese Magnet" because it could attract and then repel hot ashes due to its pyroelectric properties.[5]
Tourmalines were used by chemists in the 19th century to polarize light by shining rays onto a cut and polished surface of the gem.[6]
Topaz is a silicate mineral made of aluminum and fluorine with the chemical formula Al2SiO4(F, OH)2. It is used as a gemstone in jewelry and other adornments. Common topaz in its natural state is colorless, though trace element impurities can make it pale blue or golden brown to yellow-orange.[7] Topaz is often treated with heat or radiation to make it a deep blue, reddish-orange, pale green, pink, or purple.[8]
Topaz is a nesosilicate mineral, and more specifically, an aluminosilicate mineral.[9] It is one of the hardest naturally occurring minerals and has a relatively low index of refraction. It has the orthorhombic crystal system and a dipyramidial crystal class.[10]
It occurs in many places in the world. Some of the most popular places where topaz is sourced are Brazil and Russia.[7]Â Topaz is often mined in open pit or alluvial settings.[11]
Topaz is a gemstone. In cut and polished form, it is used to make jewelry or other adornments. Lower quality topaz is commonly used as an abrasive material due to its hardness and it is used to produce refractory materials for high temperature environments.[7] Topaz can be used as a flux in steel production.[23] Using topaz as a refectory material does have some health and environmental concerns due to the production of fluorine as a byproduct of calcining topaz.
Topaz is a part of the second rank of gemstones, or semiprecious stones, accompanying aquamarine, morganite, and tourmaline.[7] The first rank of gemstones, or precious stones, includes ruby, sapphire, diamond, and emerald.

8 cities. 9 gigs. I'm continually amazed that I managed to fit so much information on this poster and for it still to be semi legible.
Pillars of Redwood boles rise skyward forming a grand canopy. They soar above the ferns' fronds and carpets of clover like a cathedral over it's worshipers. Their ancient existence has withstood the test of time â regardless of earthquakes, wind and fires â they gain strength and grow taller. The feeling of comfort and peace while walking among these giants has similitude to that of being in love; youâre part of something bigger than just yourself.
This is a large Happy Buddha sculpture displayed for sale at Kino Sports Complex.
Tucson Convention Center is indoors; the exhibits are nicely curated. It is mostly retail type sales. In contrast, the Kino is mostly outside on the parking lots and fields at the sports complex There are some very large tents, about the size of a football field and some smaller 10x10 and 20x10 tents. Many of the gems, minerals, and displays are brought in by forklift on pallets. In the tents, the specimens are in large rectangular plastic containers. At TCC the vendors are retail and many of the gems sell by the gram. At Kino the vendors are retail and wholesale. Gems and minerals are sold by the pound or by the piece.

Laughing Buddha, the patron and protector of children and a symbol of good fortune, happiness and family harmony and fertility. The five children represent the five elements - Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, and Wood - and their presence is good feng shui to keep the home balanced and in harmony. Legends say that the laughing Buddha loved kids and was usually surrounded by children. He gave them snacks or sweets from his sack.

“Will you ever? I don’t think you will ever fully understand how you've touched my life and made me who I am. I don't think you could ever know just how truly special you are that even on the darkest nights you are my brightest star.” ~ Erica Jong ~
There we were just getting our laughing gear around the last morsels of a very tasty road kill that Mrs P had roasted to perfection when we thought we would tune into the local weather forecast.
On screen came a well known local forecaster who was clearly beside himself with excitement rabbiting on about how to expect such an outstanding sunset this evening. This was going to be the sunset of all sunsets. He put this down to the fact that the county was experiencing high levels of Sahara dust. I had no idea that Sarah had been dusting her property.
Factoring in these people get paid an awful lot of money and have access to the most up to date weather gathering technology what could possibly go wrong.
The car was packed with the camera equipment, Mrs P’s Kindle, a suitable bottle of refreshment and a good evening was going to be had by all.
As we rocked up at Crackpot Haven beach, my good lady spotted a seat where she could read while I got a couple of photos.
As we parked the car it was like someone was switching off the lights and the view out to sea was disappearing quicker than I use to be able to down a pint of beer.
Undeterred I set off down the beach, yep the heavens opened, where was Sarahs dust and the magnificent sunset.
I have been a bit reluctant to post this shot, but as always you have to work with what is in front of you.
Also I felt if said weather person is watching it might shame him into looking for alternative employment.
As this will be my last upload before Christmas, may I take this opportunity to thank you for the kindness, care and heartfelt messages over the last 18 tricky months.
Hope you enjoy my photos as much as I do taking them.
The comments and banter are so appreciated, take care.

It doesnât matter if youâre the only one to give yourself a company. It is only you who knows how to lift yourself up.
When I was growing up, after spending time at my grandparents house and saying our farewells, my grandfather would often proclaim âGood skillâ instead of âGood luck.â He always reminded us that hard work, learning, and knowledge would offer a far better chance in life than just being lucky. If you want real luck, youâre going to have to work for it. This is something I remind myself of regularly!
