Taken in our garden.
We think this is a Mayfly and probably the Large Dark Olive Mayfly Beetis Rhodani. If it isn't I hope someone will set us straight. The flower on the other hand, is definitely a clematis - Betty Corning.
At first I didn't know he was there. I took a single photo to upload to the big monitor to see if there were stamens inside and there he was, all blurry. So I went back out and made his acquaintance!
Majestic.

Tofu doesn't need a yoga mat, he practices his yoga on the stairs at the backdoor of my garage. The yoga sessions are frequently interrupted by birds or - in this case - the rabbits who were playing in the neighbour's garden only about 15 feet away from him.
.....or exhaustion?

Yesterday, I was really down and depressed; tired and cranky; tired and tearful......but my Flickr friends were there to support me and boost my spirits. A few of my Flickr friends suggested I get up and move, get out of the house, work-out! So, Melanie and Katcat - this one's for you!!!
I actually got my body up and going today - I even went to the gym! (yay!) I spent 30 minutes on the treadmill - that may not sound like a lot, but for me, it IS!!
And yes, I feel better!!
I hope I can get out of bed tomorrow! LOL!!
If you ever go to this amazing yoga and wellness retreat, you may espy two little ponds down the hills towards the big lake. I decided to jump over a few fences (some electric!) to go check them out one day. It was a longer hike than I expected, probably because the ponds were not as small as I expected. I have great trouble on the scale of everything here in New Zealand in these mountains because everything is so epic!

Since retiring it has been wonderful to indulge myself with yoga practice. It is my routine to attend at least twice a week.
Our instructor has a perfect soothing voice.

Townsend’s Chipmunk (Tamias townsendii) (F)

Townsendʼs chipmunks are found in southwestern British Columbia and western Washington and Oregon. In Oregon, they are found from the Cascade Range to the coast. Townsendʼs chipmunks live in dense hardwood forests and humid coniferous forests.
Townsendʼs chipmunks are shyer than other chipmunks, so watch carefully for them. Listen for their call—a fast, highpitched series of “chip, chip, chip.” It may sound like a birdʼs call muffled by bushes. Their call sometimes is used to warn of intruders such as people, predators, and other chipmunks. If you are lucky, you might see a chipmunk sitting on a stump or log. Townsendʼs chipmunks eat a variety of foods. In the summer and fall, they eat berries such as blackberries, salal berries, and thimbleberries. In the late fall, they eat acorns, huckleberries, maple seeds, thistle seeds, grain seeds, grass, roots, and conifer seeds. In the winter, they search for fungi, which they find by smell and dig up to eat. Chipmunks also eat insects, especially beetles.

I have never seen a performance like that and it was incredible cool!

Day 3
We went for a game drive in the afternoon. Among other things we came across this baboon. He pretty much ignored us all the time as he was concentrating on his yoga.
What else do you expect from a baboon? =P
Jess officially became Yoga teacher just recently. Her teaching style is fun and energy loaded - but don't get her smile wrong - she's a tough cookie and really get students to the limits… Congrats Jess!
Strobist: two Elinchrom DX 4 through softboxes left and right pointing to the wall in the back. This made it not a full silhouette as we still wanted to see the studio environment.
Post: I wanted to create this red/black optics you sometimes see in wild west movie posters. So first converted to black and white in Silver Efex and then colorized in Color Effects to get the red overlay. Any tips on how to get this style better welcome, esp. w/o using photoshop...
